I applied at PC Laptops in October of 2007. I had just left a 9.25 an hour job @ 40 hours a week for a 11.00 an hour @ 25 hours a week. My income hadn’t changed. I had recently moved out on my own, and was trying to pay bills living month to month. I got tired of it. I was struggling and frustrated with having no money, and really wanted monetary freedom.

I have a friend who works here, and I of course dropped his name, and went through the interview and hiring process. I started on Dec. 5th 2007. My first day at work I was asked if I wanted to go La Caille 3 days later. I had worked for a company for 5 ½ years and didn’t get a thank you for working 365 days a year and on every major holiday, and now after being employed for 10 minutes the company is buying the soon to be wife and I a $100 a plate dinner? I was impressed. Then I received a $50 gift card at the event. Now I was blown away. I hadn’t even worked for PCL yet and I was treated like one of the family.

3 months later, on Feb. 20 2008, I bought my dream car. I am a Subaru fanatic, and I bought a 2008 Outback Sport. This is something I’ve worked for and wanted since I was 15. I know it’s just a car but the significance behind it is unbelievable to me. I was 21 with the my dream car. The only reason I now own it is because of my employment here.

3 months later I got married, and paid for a honeymoon. I just got done taking a vacation to Moab on my recently purchased $3,000 mountain bike. Everyone knows I have a tendency to ramble. So my testimonial isn’t “short” but it’s extremely “real”, comes straight from my heart and I don’t think you’ll find a better summary of the PC Laptops experience Here goes:

            I became part of the PC Laptops family in August of 2006 and it’s been quite a ride! I have never been able to speak higher of a company on either a professional or personal level as PC Laptops has helped me succeed in my life on both levels.
            Of all the many perks gained by working here, the greatest benefit I’ve been able to personally receive from being a part of the PC Laptops family goes much deeper and personal than any amount of money they could ever pay me. At the risk of being too personal, I suffered a mental breakdown in late 2007 due to some extremely severe issues in my life that I was dealing with. Issues that made me question things, kept me from wanting to get out of bed to deal with the day and made me question life in general. I never would have gotten through the toughest point in my life without the friendship and camaraderie of my fellow “family members” at PC Laptops. I have no doubt that is what kept me going. Whereas at other jobs I would’ve gone unnoticed, my manager here took time out of his personal life at home with his wife and children to call and check up on me several times and went out of his way to always make sure that I was doing alright when at work. The Vice President of the company at that time took 3 hours out of his very busy day to come and pick me up from work, take me to lunch and talk to me in depth and on a very personal level about my problems. I always knew that he was available to talk to but when he gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him if I was ever feeling down late at night and needed to talk, or if I ever wanted to go catch a movie or hang out, well… that’s something that no amount of financial compensation could make up for. It’s one of the best feelings in the world to know that you work for a company that encourages and promotes employees like this. I will forever be in debt to PC Laptops for basically saving my life.

PC Laptops has changed my life. I can no longer call working here a job, why you may ask? We have way to much fun!!! I mean seriously if you were paid to have the time of your life be super energetic, make people happy while working for the best company on the planet why wouldn’t you want to be part of that!!! I have worked here since June 9th 2008. Since this time I have bought the car of my dreams, bought my first house, and am completely able to spend when and where I want. Want to know the best thing about it? I am nineteen years old! This company has brought me to my success. Since I’ve experienced the privilege of being hired here at PC Laptops, my life has improved exponentially. I could name everything in my life which has gone from either bad to good or good to better, but to do so would require more patience on the part of the reader than I am willing to ask. J As such, I will be uncharacteristically brief.
I come from a rather colorful background entrenched in extremes. I’m an avid associate of academia, but I love Monster Truck Rallies, for example. J Seriously, my past is one of an uneven balance of pain and ironic good fortune. I’m a divorced single father who finds the greatest joy in seeing his daughter smile, and a bitter sweet sense of irony in the fact that my relationship with my ex-wife is better post divorce than pre-nuptial. Go figure. J
Prior to my life here at PC Laptops, I was laid off from my “dream job” at a local TV station as the Floor Director. I was recently divorced, vividly depressed and felt that I had no direction and no clue of what I was going to do next.
Being in line with my ironic good fortune, I happened to run into Derek, an old friend of mine. I worked for him back when I was a pimple faced teenager and he was a still tall funny red-head at Software Etc. in Valley Fair Mall. He invited me to apply, and not more than a week later I was hired as a tech in the West Jordan Store.
Since that time, I have re-focused my life and have experienced more success and happiness through challenging myself to be better than anyone expects of me. I owe this philosophy to our code. Upon first reading it, I committed to living it in every way possible in my professional and personal life.
I have much to be thankful for, and the centerpiece of this sense of appreciation is this company and its values. Without PC Laptops, I’m really not quite sure where I’d be at this moment. It’s been much more than just a job for me; it has been, and continues to be, a professional and personal renaissance.

I’ve now worked here at PC Laptops for three years now.  There are so many things that I love about this company! I first started here as a sales guy and within six months I was able to work my way up to being a store manager.  A year and a half after that I was able to become a District Manager.  Companies I have worked for in the past had a cap on how high you go up in the company.  Here at PC Laptops growth is immeasurable!  I’ve been able to accomplish many things such as own a brand new house, put my wife through nursing school, and get out of all debt.  All I’ve ever done is work in the retail computer industry.  Most companies are all about getting computers out the door and then forgetting about their customers.  Being a District Manager here at PC Laptops I’ve been able to do amazing things to take care of our customers.  I love working for a company that cares as much for their customers as they do their employees.  This is the best job I’ve ever had!

I have been with PC Laptops for 2 years and 8 months. This has been the most exciting and positive environment I have ever been in.
I come from a history with previous retail chains that sold name brand product but they lacked one huge characteristic: the ability actually take care of their customers. I loathed the mentality of being just a number to the corporation and for what I felt I contributed, I had no stand with the company to make improvements and had a very small ( micro-sized ) chance of getting promoted. I went home every 2 weeks with nothing more than another $300 to take to the bank and was currently living between me and my girlfriend’s parent’s house.
PC Laptops has been the breath of fresh air that I thought would take 10 or 15 years of my life to accomplish and it happened before I reached the age of 21! I married the girl of my dreams after 5 years. We bought a house off of just my income and currently own 2 cars.
I was the kid that people thought would not succeed in life and with that negativism bearing down on me for a good 6 years through JR High and High School I was about to give in to my fear of I wouldn’t amount to the great dreams that my Mom and Dad had for me. I can officially say that I am successful because of PC Laptops and the environment that they create for people that have unlimited potential.
Within my first year I was able to become an assistant manager. With-in 6 months of that I became a manager. I owe my success to so many people in this company and I can’t name just one mentor but so many that it just may take you to long to read. This company’s team work is insane! Everyone helps everyone, PERIOD!
To sum it up. I don’t have to go home every day worrying about being fired because of being laid off. The stability of this company and being debt free is such a reassuring feeling that I can go into work happy that the company is doing better in the down economy than any other company I know of. The other thing I love here is I have the ability to make a difference here help others make their lives better and taking care of their family.
I continue to live and breathe PC Laptops every day because I put my heart and soul into this company and what it means to me and the many lives it touches.

It was the beginning of the year and I needed a new job.  For the past two years I had been making enough to get by doing my passion in life.  I had been living completely off acting professionally in both film and stage in Utah.  However when the economy started to hit hard more and more stages were doing less shows and losing equity status.  I had gone to college for the performing arts (which is where I met my sweet heart) we are getting married this June. 

So with all of that going on I knew I needed a job that would make enough to get us both by until we moved to California after she was done with school.  But there is nothing I hate more than working at a place I dread going to every day. Come on I did that in High school and college.  Then while job hunting I ran across PCLAPTOPS.com and saw that they were hiring. I had always loved computer gaming and building computers as a second passion and it was what I did all throughout high school.  In fact some friends and myself want to create our own pc video game company if we ever get the funds to do it. 

I thought, if the people who work at pclaptops are anything like me, then the job might be bearable.  I was in for a surprise.  From the second I had my interview to my first day on the job I found myself actually getting excited to be going to a job that wasn’t a show or film for the first time! 

Now over three months later I Love working here.  It is a fun job where I really do get paid for how hard I work and Im not just another number that comes in from 9-5 in a mindless job filled with people I despise.  Now I just bought a new car, put a deposit on a new apartment and have the cash to pay for a great honeymoon and I always have a lot of money left after Im done with bills for the month!  It is a strange feeling to not try and figure out how to make my last twenty bucks stretch for weeks.  THANKS PCLAPTOPS!

                I just wanted to go ahead and give you guys a quick peek into my life here at the big PCL!! I’ve worked for many Pc repair shops in the past and I can’t stress to you how amazing it has been to be working for a company that all of the rules are followed and the main focus of our company is really our customers!!!  Many of my past experiences have taught me how down and dirty business can seriously get. Watching your manager do and say things you know are totally and completely untrue and are to strictly benefit the company and get at your pocket book, is a terrible thing to have to deal with. Moving on from those companies to being here at PCL was the best decision I’ve ever made. Here we are a family where our main focus is YOU as our customer.  I’ve never seen a group of people so motivated at helping YOU get into a better situation then when you first walked through the doors. When you leave here we will guarantee to do our best at making sure you leave here with an improvement from whatever it was you came in with, be it a rowdy puppy, broken alarm clock or even your home PC! Believe me when I tell you from my own personal experience that the majority of the companies that I have had the opportunity to work with have never been half as dedicated to  YOU the customer as the team here at pc Laptops is.

I joined the PC Laptops team just over 3 years ago right after Totally Awesome Computers went out of business. It amazed me to see that Dan not only took on as many Totally Awesome Employees as he could find positions for but he also adopted all the Totally Awesome Customers. The environment created by Dan at PC Laptops has enabled me to grow myself both personally and in the business. Thanks to my continued advancement I've been able to upgrade my car from a little 4 door sedan and achieve one of my personal goals, which was to have a vehichle that would enable my son and me to seek out all the adventures we can handle. I've also had the opportunity to upgrade my home from a 1 bedroom apartment and move into an actual house with 3 bedrooms and 2 garage, which is another of my long time dreams. (Mostly the garage!!!) I also have a great deal of appreciation for Dan and the senior members of management for the time they've spent training me and helping me develop in my personaly and business goals, I've never been just another employee with PC Laptops.

I was one of the earliest casualties of the economic downturn. The company where I had worked as an engineer for 7 years had to consolidate its locations to reduce costs closed its Las Vegas office and moved to Texas. A family member was fighting stage 4 cancer so it was not feasable to move and so I found myself out of work. One day I saw a crazy ad. In Las Vegas you see a lot of job ads promising outrageous returns but this one was different. I arranged a same day interview, put on my best suit and went to the PC Laptops store. I was greeted by a loud Hello and I responed (something was different here!) After meeting with the manager and seeing that this company was committed to the customer and also to the individual growth of the employee (they paid me to read books related to my work) I was sold.

I have a Son and Daughter in Law in College with a new born grandaughter and I have been helping them with their support so this opportunity was a blessing. PC Laptops is Carazy! Crazy about what it does and Crazy about being the best. They are constantly looking for ways to improve what they do and how they do it. Thank heavens for Craziness!

Attached is a picture of my family at our favorite time of year, Christmas! Mine is a blended family with "his and hers" and we all loved "doubling" our family when Holly and I got married.

Working at PC Laptops has helped us during this transition in a number of ways. First being that when Holly and I met I was living in Springville and she in Salt Lake in a great, but small house in the Canyon Rim area. It made more sense all the way around for me to move to Salt Lake so I did. However, the drive down to Orem every day was beginning to get old. Well, right at that time Sandy needed an experienced technician and they asked if I wanted to make a change and switch to that store. Problem one solved! No more commuting. PC Laptop's solid foundation and ability to successfully run multiple stores allowed me to make this change.

The second place where my job, and job security helped during this transition was in the remodeling and doing an addition onto our house. With my kids being up here with us on the weekends we were 2 bedrooms short for all 4 kids to have their own space. So Holly and I added on 2 more bedrooms and in the process gained a bigger master bedroom, workout room, larger family room, and master bath, complete with a 72in jet tub! My family room has brand new couches, 56 inch DLP HD TV, Comcast HD DVR, wall to wall 5.1 surround sound, Blu Ray, Wii, XBOX, etc. It's a great place for us to play board games, watch movies, have a Super Bowl party, or just watch tv.  Doing the addition also meant I got to keep my den/office instead of turning it into another bedroom. My den houses my monster PC and 38in High Def TV nicely mounted to my wall. I also remodeled it at Christmas time with new desk, the new TV, a few PC upgrades, etc. right smack dab in the middle of a recession. With the numbers I see at work day in and day out and the steady stream of customers coming into our stores, if I didn't read or watch the news there's no way I would ever believe the economy was in such bad shape.

I'm at the 3 year mark at PC Laptops and I still enjoy going to work every day. I love the people, the atmosphere, the energy and enthusiasm, and the room for growth. I like the fact that my CEO and owner of the company always greets me, by name, with a smile and a handshake. I also love never having to be embarrassed of the products we sell and it's always great to let customers know we will service them FOR LIFE! I plan on making PCLaptops my home for quite some time and look forward to whatever Dan has in store for us around the corner.

I started with PC Laptops almost a year and a half ago.  Since that time I’ve had the opportunity to move from a technician in the company to a Manager of the PC Laptops Layton store.  PC Laptops is a company that is focused not only on helping it’s employees earn a paycheck, but helping them grow as a individual and team.  We work very close with all of our employees and are always learning and growing from each other.  I’ve never worked for a company that has allowed me, as an entry level employee, to communicate and get advice directly from the CEO!  Where else can you talk to a very successful, and highly motivated mentor?

3 years ago I was managing a store for another computer chain.  Well they weren't so "Awesome" and went out of business leaving me jobless.  To be honest as much as I enjoyed working there, the pay wasn't that great.  Thankfully PC Laptops brought me on board.  In my 20 plus years in the work force this has to be by far the most enjoyable job I have ever had.  It has allowed me to keep my wonderful house and I have been able to purchase, upgrade or win tons of goodies like Xbox's , new TV and a Blu-Ray player for my home theater.  It's great to be able to work at company where you literally write your own paycheck and get to hang out with some of the greatest people around.  On top of that, we're actually growing where many companies are laying off or shutting down.  I am very thankful that in these times I have a great paying job with a stable company.  Thanks Dan the Laptop Man and PC Laptops!
