3 Signs Your Computer is in Need of Repair
A computer is a purchase designed to last for many years, and we use computers today for everything from basic web browsing to advanced gaming and more. But every time you use your computer for things like email and going online, it’s at risk of things like malware and viruses. Plus over time your computer performance will naturally decline. So how do you know when it’s time to bring it in for repairs? Here are three signs you can be on the lookout for.
Nobody likes pop-up windows, but even more frustrating than the ones that interrupt your internet browsing to ask if you want to sign up for the latest newsletter or downloadable guide are the ones that pop up on your desktop unexpectedly. These pop-ups can range from legitimate but confusing dialog boxes telling you that something is happening to your computer to fake warnings that there are security threats and you have to click a button or link to get it resolved (these often masquerade as virus protection software, but when you click that’s when the malicious software is actually installed). Other potential threats your computer faces that should be checked by a professional PC repair shop include:
The parts inside your computer will naturally heat up a little bit when it’s working, but if your computer gets particularly hot to the touch during normal operation or you can constantly heart the fans running to try and cool it down, that’s usually a sign that something is wrong internally. It may not be a virus necessarily, but you need an experienced technician to check and see what’s going on. The same is true if your computer is running exceptionally slow. Over time your computer is likely to get slower than when you first got it, especially as you install more apps and programs, but if you’re waiting several minutes for even basic tasks to complete, that’s a sign that it’s time for a computer check-up.
Does your computer randomly freeze or restart, or do the programs you are running crash often? That’s not supposed to happen, and you need to see someone who can diagnose and resolve the issue. On Windows computers you may also notice that you’re getting a lot of the “blue screen of death”, which is the affectionate term that computer nerds use for that bright blue screen that shows up with an error message suggesting a restart. If you’re getting these often (like every time you use your computer), bring it in to PC Laptops for repair.
These are just three of the many potential signs of an issue with your computer that needs repair. If you’re experiencing these issues or anything else, bring in your machine and our technicians will check it out and get it repaired.
