Finally, when the “customer service” representative in “chumbawumba” answers you’re told that your “on-site” warranty is their shipping guy sending out a box and then you waiting 4-6 weeks for them to tell you that your “spy-ware” problem is not covered under warranty. You end up paying a huge bill and to top it off you get your computer back with all your precious data erased! HOLY MACKERAL!
Local Big-Box Store – After you dump your new computer into your shopping cart with your toilet paper you realize that you have to call the 1-800 number in “chumbawumba” again and go through the same agony as ordering from that huge internet company.
Local Small Computer Store – The challenge here is that most of the small local computer stores don’t have the support staff to take care of you. Sometimes they make claims of super cheap prices and service warranties but don’t have the staffing or finances to back it up. They sometimes will sell you “gray market” or “refurbished” computers as new. The sad news is most of these stores go out of business in the first few years. If you pick up your local yellow pages a few years back you’ll notice that most of the local computer stores are now gone and a whole bunch of new ones have popped up soon to be gone also.
